Sigma Beta Clubs all across the country have mentored thousands of young men since 1950. Participants learn the importance of servicing others and establish lifelong friendships, as well as the enhancement of meaningful educational and professional opportunities.

Our motto is, The Next Generation of Leaders Accepting the Responsibility and Loving the Challenge. Our Sigma Beta Club members are committed to living out its meaning each and every day.

• The Greater Kansas City Sigma Beta Club was chartered on January 19, 2014

• Membership in the Sigma Beta Club will offer your son an opportunity to further develop wholesome values, leadership skills, social and cultural awareness during a critical stage in his personal development utilizing the Rise and Thunder curriculum.
• The Club, being an organization for male students ages 8 through 18, gives them an opportunity to meet with each other on a regular basis outside the school atmosphere to discuss their interests as well as their troubles.
• The Sigma Beta Club also gives its members a chance to meet with college and professional men on a regular basis; therefore, exposing them to various viewpoints of educational advancements. 
• Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. will present various awards to recognize achievement and active participation of members.
• Receive educational tutoring, if needed
• Learn step routines which will help to reduce potential sibling rivalry and foster early bonding relations with Sigma Beta Club members

James Taylor is the director of the Greater Kansas City Sigma Beta Club and a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, he graduated from Paseo High School before earning a football scholarship to Lincoln University. There, he obtained his bachelor’s degree, later earning both a master’s degree in education and an educational specialist degree from Park University.

With nearly a decade of experience in education, James has worked across Pre-K through 12th grade. He began his career as a music teacher, serving in that role for three years at a K-8 school, before transitioning into teaching 2nd and 3rd grade. His leadership journey then led him to serve as an assistant principal at both the elementary and middle school levels, eventually moving into high school administration.

As the director of the Greater Kansas City Sigma Beta Club, James is passionate about mentoring young men, helping them develop leadership skills, achieve academic success, and build meaningful, lifelong relationships. His work is dedicated to shaping the next generation of leaders within the community.
